Post - Covid Resources

Terms

Covid and Covid-19 refer to the corona virus disease that first threw our world into seclusion in 2019.
SARS-CoV-2 : Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome - Corona Virus - 2nd virus
     - There existed a SARS-CoV-1 from 2002-2004, with a little over 8k cases and 800 deaths. Infection Fatality rate of 9-11%
Spike Protein - found on the round coronavirus which allows virus to interact with ACE-2 receptors

Immune Systems

You have two broad immune systems in your body
1. Innate Immune System
2. Adaptive Immune System

1. Innate Immune System
This is your quickest, but not the smartest immune response. Programed to recognize antigens (foreign substance to the body) through the course of evolution. This system has several soldiers to its arsenals, one of the most important being the Complement System: a system of proteins that attach/coat/opsonize anything it recognizes as non-bodyself. The Innate Immune system is powerful in your fight of parasites, bacteria, and viruses found in the interstitial space. Once a virus makes its way into one of your cells, the innate immune system is at a loss.

2. Adaptive Immune system
The innate immune system has bought time for the Adaptive Immune System to enter with a customized adapted response to antigens. This system is mainly comprised of you lymphocytes: B cells and T cells. Lymphocytes are produced in bone marrow, and are so named B and T cells based on where they mature. B cells mature in the bone marrow, whereas T cells mature in the thymus (located right near your heart).
B cells primarily produce antibodies: think a custom key for a lock; this molecule is able to neutralize the particular antigen it has been coded for.
T cells act like sentinel cells; scanning host cells to check they are operating appropriately and empty of any invaders or pathogens. If a T cell identifies an infected or malignant cell, it instructs the cell to commit apoptosis (destroy oneself), which in turn destroys any antigen inside.

Immune Response

Covid has been so nuanced in that it greatly influences some people's systems and not others. Many that fight off the infection are then left with long hauler symptoms. The coronavirus is being found in the brain, lungs, tissues, joints, and more - destabilizing people's body's and livelihoods.

People's immune systems are generally handling COVID - it is this occupation of the immune cells as they combat SARS-CoV-2 that allows for other disfunction, imbalance, and disease to sink in.

Balancing the immune response to both COVID and immune homeostasis is crucial in your return to health and wellness.

Healing after COVID is still new territory - which makes Craniosacral Therapy a truly unique modality to help serve people to returning to health. Craniosacral Therapy's ability to listen directly to the body without judgement or agenda whilst working directly with the immune cells and virus cells can only be an avenue for help and support.
Appointments

COVID Healthcare Worker Clinics

To the direct COVID healthcare workers. The ICU workers who have had to be on the front lines of a truly transformative experience. Your witness and support more than deserves recognition and care. Your body and mind have had to hold so much as you care and give to those in need. Healthcare Hero does not even begin to cover the triumph of your work.

Starting in early summer I will be hosting a once monthly COVID Healthcare clinic to hold space and care for you. These appointments are my gift to you and my way of trying to give back to our community.
